EKAGGATA for Soprano Saxophone and Piano
Dr. Timothy Stulman has received numerous honors and awards at both the national and international levels. As winner of the First Music Commission, he was commissioned to compose an orchestral piece for the New York Youth Symphony that was premiered in Carnegie Hall in 2010. His music has been selected for performance by the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, the Toledo Youth Orchestra, the International Tribuna Sax-Ensemble in Madrid, and the BGSU Philharmonia. He was a featured composer at University of Central Missouri’s New Music Festival, Electronic Music Midwest, the 1st Annual Huntsville New Music Festival, and Juventas New Music Ensemble’s Murmurs from Limbo concert series. He was the winner of the 27th BGSU Competitions in Music Performance and received second place in the Greater Cleveland Flute Society Composition Competition.
Dr. Stulman received his DMA at Bowling Green State University under the tutelage of Distinguished Artist Professor Marilyn Shrude. His other teachers include Mikel Kuehn, Wallace DePue, Burton Beerman and Margaret Brower. Tim is interested in Eastern aethetics and he has spent much time studying Chinese religious forms. Fluent in the Chinese language, Stulman lived in the ShangHai area for two years. He is currently on the faculty at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.
