Webmaster
Just a few months ago, we launched the first major overhaul of the NASA web site. We affectionately referred to this site as version 3, or v.3, for short. Major additions included discussion forums, online conference registration, the ability to update account details, a store, a NASApedia, and dissertation, thesis, and discography pages. In short, the site has become a destination for saxophonists.
We are pleased to announce that v.4 is already here! Features of v.4 include easier content management, which gives us the ability to quickly add, for example, Summer Festivals and Master Classes for Saxophone and the online version of Update. V.4 also completely integrates the NASA store, so your membership account is associated with your store account: you are no longer required to create two separate accounts. Other improvements include complete integration of the NASA Gallery and index and search functions for all content.
Here are some features that will be ready in the near future (let's call it v.4a):
• Automatic email notification of new posts in the forums.
• Members will be able to sell their CDs as digital downloads through the NASA Store (complete with artwork and liner notes).
• Members will be able to contribute content to the site (both articles and photos).
We are looking for members to create and moderate specific pages in the forums. For instance, we could have pages dedicated to repertoire, errata, fingerings, equipment, etc. If you are interested, please contact me through the web site.
Finally, I invite you to visit NASA's new v.4 site at www.saxalliance.org and let me know what you think. All ideas for improvements or new functionality are welcome.
Thanks!
Tom Lowry
