Saxophone Symposium
The Saxophone Symposium is a peer-reviewed journal devoted solely to the saxophone. All feature articles submitted for publication are reviewed by an editorial board consisting of professional performers, scholars, and teachers. Submissions in the areas of saxophone history, literature and repertoire, pedagogy, jazz studies, and interdisciplinary areas involving the saxophone are welcome. Reviews of books, music, compact disks, films, pedagogical materials, and works in alternative media pertaining to the saxophone are also encouraged. A subscription to the Saxophone Symposium is included with most memberships.

Notice to Contributors
Submissions should be typed on 8 1/2 X 11-inch paper, double-spaced throughout (including block quotations and notes) with one-inch margins. All notes should be consecutively numbered and should appear as endnotes at the conclusion of the manuscript text. Please use a superscript character for the number that precedes the text of each citation.
Four copies of the manuscript should be submitted. The editor regrets that manuscripts cannot be returned. In order to facilitate blind review, the author's name must not appear on any of the four copies of the submitted manuscript. A cover letter that clearly identifies the manuscript must be included. The Saxophone Symposium will not consider for publication any manuscript submitted simultaneously to another journal. The editor will normally give notice of the article's status within three months of its receipt.
Bibliographic format and matters of style should conform to the Chicago Manual of Style, 14th edition. To facilitate editing, please insert only a single space between each sentence of text in the word processing files. For the manuscript copy, it is permissible to photocopy examples from a musical score and paste them in the intended locations in the article's text. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission for reproduction from the publishers of all musical examples used.
If an article is accepted for publication, musical examples should be composed in Coda Software's Finale, from Finale 3.7 up to and including Finale 2001. Alternatively, musical examples may be provided electronically as 600dpi TIFF-format graphics. If this is not possible, a clean copy of the score(s) should be submitted for the pieces cited in the article. Scores will be returned after the article's publication.
After any necessary revisions, a word processing file of the article (preferably using Microsoft Word 97/98 or saved in Rich Text Format for other word processing programs) should be sent to the editor as an e-mail attachment or on a floppy diskette. A 25-to-100-word abstract should also be submitted with the article text. Guidelines for abstract writing can be found at:

Article authors should include a biographical sketch of no more than 200 words.

Reviews should be between 700-900 words or less and formatted under the guidelines discussed above. Complete bibliographic information must be included: author, title, number of pages (for books & music), performers (for recordings), copyright date, publisher, contact information for publisher or distributor, price, and catalog number or ISBN. Review authors should submit a brief biography of up to 100 words.
